So last Thursday night we were lucky enough to get South High Football Coach Bob Larose and Worcester Tech Coach Derek Robbins to sit down with us and discuss the state of high school football in Massachusetts, the MIAA scheduling wizardry, and everything in between. Absolutely phenomenal conversation. You can see it here if you missed it. The conversation was eye opening to say the least.

Friday afternoon at 3pm I was driving through what was seemingly a tornado. Didn't know what to expect when I got to Foley Stadium to watch the Colonels take on the Worcester Tech Eagles for weather and the skies opened up immediately. Even though we were under a clear sky, purple pinkish horizon...Another tornado would be rolling through soon after kickoff. Angelo LaRose took his second carry of the game to the house and never looked back en route to another 6 touchdown performance. Solid defense played by all. Solid blocking. Angelo had a big pick, as did Jasper Fritz. Some really special records were broken and will continue to be. The Polar Express ran for a new single game record of 444 yards. Cody Titus(St. Bernard's) previously set the mark at 436 in 2011. He also scored his 35th Touchdown which also the new season mark. Now here's the big one that I don't think many people are aware of. Friday night's performance leaves Angelo at 2715 yards for the season with one game left. No one in Massachusetts history has ever rushed for 3k yards in a season. Ever. It's been done 268 times nationwide, but never in Massachusetts. And here's his attitude...Been telling you guys one of this kid's best attribute is his ability to be humble and his love for his teammates. Here's his quote to the T and G.

And it's a team wide feel of humbleness. They all pick each other up. You always wonder the feelings of the other guys on the depth chart. Here's Steven Solano's take it on it...These quotes are a direct indicator that these kids are well coached.

Here's Steven out in front of Angelo clearing the way. That's probably not that comforting for defenders. Thunder and Lightning.

Now the Colonels have had a strong season this year. Coach LaRose loses 5 seniors this year, including Steven Solano, however this is a long term goal for this program. What Angelo and his teammates are doing this season will have South High Football hitting the ground running when their playing field at the new school is ready for next season. Sports Facility to the max. We have one game left to cap this amazing season. We have had a loyal crowd every game this year. But there are some key South High Alum's that have been missing and you all know who you are. Thanksgiving Day we take on North. Calling all Colonels to Foley Stadium for Noon. I've been promoting this magic all year, come witness it for yourself. Colonel Pride is back!!!!!

P.S. I took in the past two JV games to see what's coming down the pipeline for the Colonels future. #13 Tong Tranh and #9 Speedster Logan Shattuck caught my eye with a few nice plays. Future is bright.
