South High Coach Diago McClain walked into this endeavor with some serious weapons this season. Weapon's he and his Assistant Coach, Sam O'Gara, have groomed since third grade to present. Sam's younger sister Grace O'Gara accomplished a feat last night in style Vs. a very young North High program. She scored point number 1k inside the brand new home of the South High Colonels in front of a modest crowd amidst the recent public health concerns. There was so much more to this game than just the scoring of the point though. Grace ended with 35points, 32 in the first half, 22 in the first quarter.

This win improved the Lady Colonels to 4-1, and they are getting hot. Much credit to New Head Coach for North High, Danille Delgado for taking on this program and building it basically from the ground floor here. Although it was a lopsided victory, her team never waivered in class or effort and showed respect and sportsmanship exactly like I knew Danielle would have them coached. I grew up with Coach Delgado and attended Adams Street School with her in the 80's. You know who else was there. Coach Diago McClain! So this game was going to be a meaningful one to me regardless of outcome. I'm still kind of in shock with what I actually saw overall last night though.

Never in my life have I seen a team shoot the lights out like South High did last night. I'm not so sure it would have mattered who was on the receiving end of that, but the Lady Colonels shot 67% from the field. The passing was fuego and they moved in transition like the GlobeTrotters. And I mean the entire team. Check this 1 minute and 19 second stretch where Grace just snaps and scores 12...one of the purest shooters I have ever seen, period.
Watch #21 Tamia Nunes in seemingly every highlight I post. This next clip is Faith Jackson's. She just snapped at one point and dropped 3/3 3pointers in about 40seconds on a ridiculously athletic, and aware steal and assist from Tamia. She's everywhere. She ended ths game with a triple double. 13Points/14Assists/12Rebounds. All hustle.
Just an amazing display of hustle, defense, and sharpshooting. Anddddd here comes the trademark emotional part of it from a fan stand point. I've watched Coach McClain for years now refer to the Worcester Sting as family. The feel in that gym last night was exactly that tone. If you could have witnessed how happy these girls genuinely for their teammate's 1K point milestone, my goodness. These girls play together like most of us wish the Boston Celtics would at this point. They have each other's backs, hustle hard, listen to their coach, and play with flow. There is not a weak link on this team. Congratuations South High, Grace O'Gara, Coach McClain, Coach O'Gara! 4-1...Lot of work to do! Woooooooooooooooo! Special season happening at South High. #ColonelPride #OneTeamOneCause #LadyColonels
