Ok. So a couple days ago the Telegram proclaimed this game a tough test for the now (10-1) Lady Colonels. We can basically call this the halfway point of this season and other than a skeptical loss to #1 Ranked Wachusett, results have been the same. It seems as though the most difficult task Coach McClain has had is keeping playing time away from the region's hardest 1-2 punch in High School Girl's Basketball, Grace O'Gara and Tamia Nunes. These scores have been so lopsided, it has been hard to keep these girls in games in regards to not "run up" these scores and hurt anyone's feelings. As much as I understand the sportsmanship of it, it's a shame because these two would be putting up area codes in the stats department. And overall....To keep it 100%....This was not a tough test by any stretch of the imagination.
Grace O'Gara finished this game with 27Points, 10Assists, 10Steals...Tamia Nunes was every where last night. 23Points, 11Rebounds and a plethora of other stats...Im not sure I could pick between the two of these girls for best player in the area. I'm gonna stick with both. Both very different skill sets, but they play both sides equally as smart and super unselfish. Grace is a true point guard with a pristine range. Tamia Nunes is a ferocious S/P Forward with post moves and a defensive IQ beyond high school level. Both of these girls are near flawless defenders. Ari Gonzelez just doesn't miss from three when she is set. Another ferocious defender. Jayla Colon....Same...Doesn't miss. Can shoot midrange from anywhere. Janaya Hampton and Bryan Biscones down low, super strong, intense rebounders that can both shoot as well. Bryan had a night at North High this week. Gabby Wasiewicz and Naima Bleou both can shoot the lights out as well. What can we say about Jaizzy Santiago, she's like Iverson out there with the handles and call this kid is the future. Scary fast and in control. Have seen her non chalantly hit a half court shot in shoot arounds. Oh wait....
Hahaha....Good Luck to the remaing teams in front of this team on this years schedule and beyond. This program is just getting started. Looking forward to the Notre Dame Game. Woooooooooooooo! Keep working hard Colonels!
